What's a Class Dojo??

Attention parents!

I would like to introduce to you an online behavioral tool I like to use called Class Dojo. It’s a website that allows teacher or childcare providers to give kids immediate feedback on their behavior – positive and negative. Kids get very excited when they are awarded points for things such as sharing, participating during a group activity, having good transitions, and more! But beware, they can also lose points for things such as hitting, taking toys, not listening and being disrespectful. Depending on the age of your child we can choose to reward them appropriately at the end of each day or week.

A great feature of the website is that it tracks the Childs’ behavior over time and creates a “behavior and skills report” that you can be see daily to give you a better understanding of your child’s progress. At the end of each week I reset their bubbles so they can start fresh, but all the information is still saved. I can even comment if there is something specific that you should know or want to remember. With this app I can easily share our weekly menu or our daily activities by posting documents and pictures that you can see firsthand without having them broadcasted for the whole world to see. This app also has a messaging feature so that I can send individual or group messages.

I hope that our using Class Dojo will give you some more insight as to how your child is doing at daycare behaviorally as well as keeping you up to date on our day to day activities. I know you will be proud to see the great behaviors they are displaying, and in turn, if there is something they need to work on, you will be able to see that as well.

Have a great day!
